In March 2010, at the Gávea Planetarium in Rio de Janeiro, during a design sector conference, Sergio Rodrigues was present as a special guest. I was next to him when he asked me what I was doing there and if I was married.
I replied, "I work at the Ministry of Culture." And, in a playful tone, I added, "I'm looking for a husband." A minute later, someone arrives at his side, and he introduces me to Fernando Mendes, saying, "Look, beautiful lady, he's here for you!" Our cupid.
Married, a partner, and collaborator with Fernando for almost 13 years, we shaped the Institute with Sergio still alive, and today we run, together, the Sergio Rodrigues Atelier and the Sergio Rodrigues Institute.
This partnership with Handred brought to light many good memories, both personal and professional, making our project even more special. This project combines two cultural languages, design and fashion, incorporated into the national Culture plan in 2010, the same year I met Sergio and Fernando.
After more than a decade, the partnership between Handred and the Sergio Rodrigues Institute is born, bringing together these two artistic languages and cultural expressions, democratizing and expanding access to Sergio Rodrigues' work through the language of fashion.
